Why Don't I Like This "Reform"?

Esa: A really good friend of mine just barely asked why I don't like it. (She doesn't like it either, but she was just wondering what I thought of it. I do that too sometimes.)

The reasons I don't like it are...
  1. BIG GOVERNMENT. Government is slow, ineffective, and can go on forever as long as it has money (tax dollars), military, and some degree of control over its people. It doesn't have to compete with private enterprise, it doesn't have to behave like private enterprise, and long after ineffective private enterprise has faded away, ineffective government is still there.
  2. BIG GOVERNMENT GETTING BIGGER. Fact is, our government was already big. This bill makes it bigger. The bigger government becomes, the more wasteful, the more controlling, the more crazy bloggers start angry blogs.
  3. BIG GOVERNMENT GETTING INVOLVED WITH COMMUNISM. Communism is evil. Evil is bad. Bad is trouble. Trouble is no fun.No fun sucks. And it sucks to be in a country getting more and more involved in communism and socialism. See, the reason communism and socialism is evil is because they aren't worried about making things, they're worried about getting things that are already made to be distributed. And fact is, things have to be made before they can be distributed. When you stop making stuff, you start losing stuff. You start slowly going down hill until you start going downhill quickly. And when it gets to that point, well, I think I'll go start my own country. Or move to the moon. Either one is a better idea than communism.
  4. WE HAVE TOLD WASHINGTON OVER AND OVER THAT WE HATE THIS BILL, BUT ARE THEY LISTENING? When government no longer listens to its people, when the people no longer have a say in how things are run, then that is evil. It is a sign of dictators, of kings, of people who are driving their country into the ground and they don't seem to care enough to do anything but make it worse. So when Obama and Polosky say we're going to love this, THEY ARE DEAD WRONG!!!
  5. ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES ARE BEING TOTALLY DISREGARDED. When people don't have money to spend on healthcare insurance, such as collage students, and they don't really need it, they're going to be forced to buy it anyways. That means taking money away from their budget for clothes, food, and books, and putting it into something outrageously expensive that they can't afford. (College students aren't known for being rich, after all.) And when insurance companies can't deny coverage for a preexisting condition, then the insurance premiums are going to have to go up, due to the increased risk.
  6. WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED BETTER: CONGRESS--OR YOU? The thing that really irks me is the incredible arrogance behind it. This is congress saying, "We know what you need better than you know yourself." This is Obama saying, "I know what you want better than you do." This is Polosky saying, "When it's your life, your opinion really doesn't matter." This is me saying, "Are you really dumb enough to believe this? Are you really letting them shove this down your throat?" Think of you, your kids, your grandkids, and your great-grandkids. They'll be stuck with this even more than you are. You should say what you think. You should tell congressmen and senators what you think. You should say you're not going to vote for them if they voted for the bill. You should say that you will never agree to this. You should protect what rights are still left to you with your life. YOU SHOULD NEVER LET ANYONE DECIDE WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL CAPABLE OF MAKING DECISIONS FOR YOURSELF!
Those are just a few of the reasons I despise the bill, which is now a law, I suppose. I only hope the law is repealed before it does too much damage. I can only hope 2012 comes before Obama totally ruins this country.

Which reminds me. Maybe the Mayans were right. Maybe they could see the future and tell that Obama was going to annihilate the greatest country on earth.

The Bill That Has Been Signed

Kip: Painful news is here. President Obama has signed his new healthcare bill. This is not surprising, but most definately grievous news. The new bill is only to spoon feed pathetic people living on welfare, and illegal immigrants. While doing that, it is heaping loads of taxes onto the hard-working people of America. So many of our rights were just stripped away from us! This new bill is giving incredible amouts of power to the federal government, by taking it away from the people!! And yet... people want to celebrate?

"Republicans warned, this health care bill would harm the U.S. economy because it requires huge funds. This bill also would create new taxes for the rich peoples and health care providers. In addition, this bill also will lead to government intervention in private health care sector." --newsgone.com

Is this really what you want??
Let's talk about what his bill is doing and what is wrong with it.

First, the bill is going to impose rich, standard packages of benefits, with low deductibles, for all Americans. Those policies, typically containing everything from in-vitro fertilization to mental health benefits, which are usually far more expensive than anything most people would pay for with their own money.
Second, the plans are going to use a "community rating", in which all customers have to be offered the same rates, regardless of their health risks. Community rating forces young people to pay far more than their actual cost, a main reason for today's 46 million uninsured, while it subsidizes older patients and people who choose to live an unhealthy lifestyle.
Third, Obama is making it impossible to buy insurance from other states. By doing this, people have less options and can't get as low prices. This will raise prices, making it easier for the government to raise prices or be less expensive than some companies. Thus eliminating much of the needed competition.
Fourth, both plans propose what's known as a "public option," that would compete with the private offerings. The previous three proposals are making it so expensive. With the same subsidies, the Medicare-style plan could put them out of business. Since when was it okay for the government to compete with private businesses??

Also, something to know is that Obama's health-care plan is not included in his 2010 budget. The administration pledges that his health-care plan won't expand the deficit because it will be entirely paid for by tax increases. But even if the deficit stays the same, spending and taxes will be far from the same. The bill is taking money from the hardworking people by raising taxes and putting it into a system where people can benifit without putting their part into it. Some more bad news is that by most estimates, Obama's plan will cost more than $200 billion a year by 2019.

Obama's Heathcare Bill (continued)

Kip: We've got some more information... All of it as disturbing as before. Here are some more things the healthcare bill is enforcing:

    pg-170
  • Officers and employees of Government Healthcare Bureaucracy will have access to ALL American financial and personal records.  pg-195
  • "The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax." Yes, it really says that. pg-203
  • Doctors: no matter what specialty you have, you'll all be paid the same. pg-241
  • Government sets value of doctors' time, their professional judgment, etc. pg-253
  • Government mandates and controls productivity for private healthcare industries. pg-265
  • Cancer patients: welcome to the wonderful world of rationing!  pg-272
  • Hospitals will be penalized for what the government deems preventable re-admissions. pg-280
  • Doctors: if you treat a patient during an initial admission that results in a readmission, you will be penalized by the government. pg-298
  • Doctors: you are now prohibited for owning and investing in healthcare companies! pg-317
  • Prohibition on hospital expansion. Hospitals cannot expand without government approval. pg-318
  • Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures: i.e., rationing. pg-335
  • Government has authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage Plans, HMOs, etc. pg-341

Esa:   I am literally speechless. This... this thing will kill us all. It rewards illegal immigrants. It actually encourages them to break the law in coming here. It punishes doctors. It forces you to buy insurance. It is government take over!

It says that the tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. That right there allows them to say the lie, "It won't raise taxes", admit they're lying, and get away with it all the same.

The government is taking over healthcare. Isn't that something like one sixth of the private sector? The only thing more important than that for our survival would likely be the food industry.

Is government going to try to take over that next? Here's an idea: Stock up on food storage. With people like Obama in charge, you never know when your rights will be violated.

This reminds me of the Soviet Union. Government trying to control everything, even things that simply cannot be controlled. It was doomed. If we try to follow their example, we're doomed.

We've accomplished more in the 200-odd years we've been a country than any other group of people. We created the Internet, the iPod, the Constitution, the lightbulb, the TV! Our houses are huge compared to any other country's. We live longer, we're healthier, we have freedom of speech, of press, of thought, of song, of meeting with whomever we want to, and we are blessed so much.

Name one other country that has what we have. We have freedom! We have success and failure. We have choice. We have so many options, so many chances! We have millionares who earn what they have and don't steal it (usually). We have happy people, we have sad people, we have people who love their country and are willing to die for it over and over again.

Do you understand what this means? We giving up what it means to be American. We're copying the other countries of the world like the Soviet Union who've given in to socialism and who are paying the price. We, the epitomy of success, are copying failures. We're getting rid of success by refusing to allow failure. We're becoming a welfare state, where government "knows best." We're saying responsiblity is "old fashioned" and "we don't need it any more! We've got government to take care of us!" We're killing our souls by refusing to think. We're refusing to think by allowing this monstrosity of a bill to be passed.

You say that there is nothing we can do? There's always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! something we can do! Even if the government says, "You don't do this, you go to jail," which it says several times, you still have the choice. You can live in a country where all you have is an illusion of freedom or you can fight for the real stuff.

What is in the heathcare reform bill?

We're Kip and Esa and we're here to tell the world what we found out about Obama's healthcare bill and exactly what we think about it!

Kip:    Obama's heathcare plan is talked about a lot, but really, what is it and what is in it? Here are some things it really contains, written in normal English:

  • A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process) pg-30
  • The "Health Choices Commissioner" will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None. pg-42
  • All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services. pg-50
  • The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer. pg-59
  • Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (example: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)  pg-65
  • All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to participate in a Healthcare Exchange.  All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans) pg-72 and 84
  • No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No "judicial review" is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed. pg-124
  • The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages. pg-127
  • An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives. pg-145

Esa:    First off, let me just say that when I saw this list, I was horrified. Scared. My distrust (and hate, don't forget that) of Obama doubled, tripled, and quadripled within five seconds. This is an evil bill. This is pure evil.

A government committee decides what you get? Oh! That's a perfectly brilliant idea! And if you manage to bug one of those people on the committee, yes, yes, of course they won't abuse their power!

What principle was this country founded on? What principle have countless men, women, children, civilians, and soldiers died for? What principle has Obama taken away in passing this horrible, awful bill? Freedom. He's taking away our freedom, our precious freedom worth more than diamonds, gold, or even healthcare. The freedom to choose what we want to do, what we want to try, what we are willing to die for and he's replaced it with this mockery of a reform. Take a look at the second bullet and you see in red italics, "You will have no choice. None." Heaven help us when we are defeated by corrupt men in suits. Heaven help us when we're the ones who elected them.

Do you think I have a lot to say so far? Well, I'm only on the second bullet. I'd go on, except I'm pretty sure high blood pressure is not good for me, so I'll just wrap it up and say, hope you live in a state that's planning on suing the government.

I also hope that if--when--it goes to the Supreme Court, there'll still be more conservatives than liberals. (Not dissing liberals here, (I'll do that later), but it's practically a given that liberals will vote in favor of the bill and conservatives won't.)
